No earthquake in Kuala Pilah so far

Malaysian Meteorological Department (MMD) will not expect the creation of a new earthquake occurs in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan, following several incidents since Sunday.

Deputy Director of Applications MMD Alui Bahari said the earthquake that occurred at the rate of weakening since the start of the afternoon felt detected.

“When it occurs in the location matching, the energy released in the next vibration usually becomes increasingly weak, compared with the fresh energy in the initial vibration,” he told Malaysiakini.

Series of vibration measurements was recorded around 3.0 on the Richter scale does not register any property damage, said when contacted Alui this evening.

Four incidents earthquake centered in Seremban was detected 22km east clock at 2.30 pm Sunday, while three subsequent concussion occurs within 24 hours.

According to a statement yesterday MMD, 12:15 incidents early yesterday morning measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale, while at 2.30 pm last reading was 3.0 on the Richter scale.

Alui explained, the incident need not be feared that the earthquake because it occurred in the area “lines that are not active earthquake”.

Added, MMD assume that the earthquake occurrence may be related to the earthquake in Indonesia before.

“Our hypothesis was that, it may be caused by the earthquake in situ (Indonesia) lines because displacement is still not stable,” he said.

Strong earthquake of magnitude 7.6 on the Richter scale occurred in Padang, Sumatra at the end of September and 1.115 which caused more casualties and 1.214 injured.

Alui however explained, MMD can not be sure whether the vibration due to impact directly or indirectly in the creation of the republic.

“The impact directly or indirectly, that we can not be sure. But a strong vibration in the region, Indonesia will give effect to the displacement of lines in the country,” he said.

The earthquake was weak first appeared previously in Kuala Pilah. Before this incident, since the end of 2007, Malaysia recorded 40 earthquakes weak, but significant occurred around 37 lines of the earthquake in Bentong, Pahang.

Three more earthquakes in the Manjung (Perak) and Jerantut (Pahang).

MMD reportedly said since November 2007 until May last year, a total of 29 earthquakes recorded in the Benton area.

Recent cases on 8 last Oct, however recorded earthquakes most often, eight times from 4:45 am until 12:05 o’clock noon, between 1.1 to magnitude 2.8 Richter scale.
