Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the state government would not get involved with the Himpun rally scheduled for this Saturday afternoon but would not prohibit its staff from participating in it.

What people says about this:

tpn -Khalid, what are you up to. The state government should follow PAS and PKR’s stand not to support the gathering. State leaders who turn up for the gathering should be sacked

Keturunan -Malaysia Yes Onyourtoes, don’t tell us our MB Khalid has suddenly gone cuckoo! When the devils extend an invitation and/or preach religion, it is wise to stay away. Nothing good can ever come out of it. It is never meant for their followers, it was only meant to entice and trap the good and the clean.

Samuel Ng -A bolt of lightning from heaven would get everyone’s attention not to use God’s name in vain for their political mileage. Corrupt men trying hard to look holy is most disgusting.

Onyourtoes -MB Khalid, please get real here. Who told you this rally is apolitical organised by NGOs? If so, why UMNO’s ministers are opening begging PAS and others to attend? Are you saying these NGOs have engaged UMNO ministers as their marketing and public relation executives. You should actually ban Selangor state civil servants from attending. It is a political event and civil servants should stay away from it.

Anonymous_3f1f All of a sudden there were so many so called Malay NGOs surfaced…if I am not wrong there was one that called themselves as “Anti-Pakatan Rakyat”..What kind of -NGO is this? Will they contribute anything to the society for being Anti-Pakatan. Strange and stupid.

Caleb Choo a.k.a. -KitaAkanSiasat This will be the most embarrasing rally I’ve ever heard. It’s already embarrasing my good Muslim friends because they do not believe that a rally can save nor strenghthen their faith. It can be only done by themselves!

The BN government should not have arrested and charged PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu because he has in fact done them a favour.

People comments:
Disbeliever Quote: Tun Mahathir said “He would even go as far as paying PAS members to act like Mohamad by going around and “talking nonsense”. Doesn’t this prove that like many in UMNO, he is also corrupted?

Anonymous
Najib, this guy is blaming you should UMNO is less popular because of the arrest of Mat Sabu. He implied that you and your cronies are the ones orchestrating it. Whack him nice and nice before he draws the first blood on you.

Compass
Dr M is right but for the wrong reasons. The BN government is bankrupt of ideas to compete with Pakatan and is seizing on any fault that it can find with Pakatan. History is not a science let alone an exact science. In fact, our government has itself even rewritten history as taught in the schools. What is so illegal about having a contrary view on history. How can I be charge for criminal defamation if I suggest that Dr Mahathir is Malaysia’s Father of Development and not Tun Razak ?

Keturunan Malaysia Haha Dr.M, you said, “Gov’t should let Mat Sabu run his mouth off”. That is EXACTLY what we did to you to secure the damages you inflicted on your ownself that we seek. As for allowing Mat Sabu to do same, that can be pretty damaging too… but alas, not to Mat Sabu but to UMNO/BN. Saying what you said now is like you are stressing that Najib is a LIABILITY twice over right? You got a hidden card up your sleeve eh?

Ramachandran Muniandy Mat Sabu should call Tun Mahathir as his defence witness. Tun Mahathir hated the British from his school days time. He infact felt that the Japanese occupation was an’eye opener’ for independence fight against the British! After May 13th i1969, at one time the Special Branch was waiting for him in KL railway station to arrest him under ISA. His friend Tengku Abdullah from the Negeri Royalty, took him to Rawang and send him off to Alor Star. He has some loyalty toward PAS as at one he stood under PAS ticket for parliament, but he lost! Again when Mat Sabu was supporting the ‘real freedom fighters’, not the British policemen of Bukit Kepong, Tun Mahathir was infect calling to review Malaysian History.

wira This guy has no dignity or shame. He is not talking about doing the correct thing according to the spirit of the law but doing the right thing that benefits UMNO. It’s no wonder he thoroughly sodomised the judiciary during his 22 years as PM.

Clean&Clear TDM , i was once a voter who fear PAS as fanatic Islamic Party. But now my eyes opened wide by PAS in making my country true history. All the way long i was duped , conned and propagate with false and malicious information from my father down to my children. I wish PR took over the government and punish you while you live. You and the whole bunch of your cohort cannot con my fellow citizen anymore … the world in our fingertip, remember that.

Anonymous Whoever wins in the law court should be of no significance to the rakyat. What the AG has done, should have been done so by the institutions of learning. Let the case be a study of history lessons in the court. The lawyers will be the lecturers. It will certainly make the studying of history more interesting. After the case, students can write their thesis for their doctorate. How about I?

Selangor Pakatan Rakyat component parties have finalised the negotiations over seat allocations for the upcoming general election, with all three parties agreeing to maintain the status quo in terms of state assembly constituencies.

People comments:
Ferdtan Boo Cheng Hau and Chua Ji Meng, see how matured the Selangor Pakatan members? They can settled the seat allocation for GE 13 without any open conflicts. The task should be more difficult in Pakatan-led Selangor – as most of the seats are winnable: thus the expected scramble for more seats. It cannot be said for Johore. It is far from certain that even if the seats were allocated to you – can you win? If both of these two state chiefs of DAP and PKR cannot come to a compromise, either remove both of them from the negotiation team, or let the head office to decide on the disputed seats.

Sabah PAS Youth today slammed the state government for standing by idly while three islands off the state’s coastline have been put up for sale on the international market.

People Comments:
Disgusted First they(UMNO) sell citizenship(with voting rights) to foreigners and now they are selling the land(island) to foreigners as well. Very soon the whole of Malaysia will be pawned to Foreigners. Sabahans themselves have to be blamed for their predicament. They have been fooled by BN using Pairin, Bernard Dompok, etc to con the natives to selling their votes which led to selling their rights in their land as well as their livelihood, future and land to UMNO. Syabas Sabahans Fixed Deposit of UMNO/BN.

Anonymous_40f4
Dont worry for the sabahans. They have been fooled by UMNO for 3 decades. Now sabah is being controlled by filipinos .No one to be blamed except sabahans.Sabah is the poorest state in Malaysia.

Irkedbylies Wonder why the silence from Sabah State Government. Can they publish the names of the owners of these three islands – then Malaysians and in particular, Sabahans, would know who is at fault here. The State could have sold the islands off to these individuals on a private basis … Which just shout louder that Malaysia has to get BN and its components OUT by GE13. Do not be taken in by the under hand campaign that the government is already carrying out before announcing date of GE13. Be alert and spread the news to every one in your kampong, town and circle of contacts. Malaysians – we all have to defend our country from further attack by birds of prey!

If the government is serious in pursuing a more democratic and open Malaysia, then the Universities and University Colleges Act (UUCA) and the Official Secrets Act (OSA) should be abolished too. What people says?

Tan Kim Keong He’s right on the OSA. However his intention regarding strengthening preventive elements with regards to the new law is only from one perspective i.e. not to question anything to do with Ketuanan Melayu or institutionalised racial discrimination. He sees standing up for one’s equal right under the Malaysian sun as a threat or encroachment to him, his race and his kind. Racism is written all over in his intention.

Malaysian Born Nothing of the kind, this sly bufoon is indirectly wanting the new laws to be used to stifle the opposition, For the record the ISA was for dealing with the security of the country against the communist and terrorist threat, nothing more. It is not meant to cover islam and bumiputra rights. If anyone does anything against a specific law then that law should be used to prosecute them. He is trying to say preventive laws are needed, in other words any excuse to lock your opponents up without trial. The last people I want to ask for advice where it comes to this is the police, it is there job to prove the case, not use preventive measures without trial. Really why is this muff being given face and time. Give him his tokens and chair outside the toilet and be done with him.

David Dass Ibrahim Ali ! Inconsistency is thy name. Yesterday he opposed liberalization. Today he supports it. He wants the Official Secrets Act and the University and Colleges Acts repealed. Critics of the OSA have always said that the OSA must not provide cover for questionable governmental activity. The Rakyat have called for more open and transparent government. We now have a Freedom of Information Act in Selangor. As for the University and Colleges Act there have been many calls for its repeal or at least for its more offensive provisions to be amended. University autonomy is universally regarded as an essential attribute for a center of higher learning. Lecturers and students have to experience their own empowerment to unleash their intelligence and creativity. No such noble purpose for Ibrahim Ali. There are close to a million undergraduates. He remembers his student days. And thinks that he can rabble rouse these undergraduates. Good luck to him. Students are smarter and more aware today.

JusticeKini YES- for the first time I can agree with Ibrahim Ali but with a caveat- Ibrahim Ali MUST GO TOO. His warped thinking that the two new acts must include protection of Islam and special rights which are all in the constitution. Does Allah needs a nincompoop like Ali to protect Islam? Are all Malays so insecure and greedy like him to have “protection” for their rights. The all powerful Ghadafi of Libya and Mubarak of Egypt are all now a footnote in history. Ibrahim Ali must learn that the concepts of race n religion supremacy does not jell in a modern cosmopolitan world. Liberty, equality, fraternity! are the cries during the French Revoultion and they are still relevent in today’s world as evident in Libya, Egypt, Syria etc. The people are rising against the UMNOputras not becos of race n religion but becos of corruption nepotism n elitism.

PM Najib: Prepaid tax not gov’t decision, wants review? What people says about this??

Mr KJ John How can Civil Society “deploy accounting firms” to review the Annual Reports of these public listed firms to ascertain if this kind of “stealing in broad daylight is not the same as “looting in London?” How much profits are enough? “Small is Beautiful” says FF Schumacher! As Civil Society, we say enuf is enuf!

skong Astro & Maxis are already charging 6% months ago. Do they have the right?

Onyourtoes Kuduka, I do not work for a telco. I am just looking at tax equity and efficiency. Has it ever occurred to you that managing all the prepaid customers probably required higher operating and incidental costs than managing post paid customers and therefore requiring other compensating revenue to keep the business viable? In any case, we are barking at the wrong tree. There are many things more urgent and important for us to look at than prepaid service tax. It is a red herring; the government just wants to show that it is sensitive to the lower income groups, more so the financial burden is not on the government. By the way, if you are a service provider, is it fair to you if the government has asked you to pay the service tax on behalf of your customers when it is the government who is pocketing the tax?

If the government can routinely ask the telcos to do it, can it not ask you too because your customers can also be complaining that the cost of living in the country is raising and they can’t make both ends meet. Cost of living issues are very complex probably requiring much more comprehensive solutions. It also requires how individuals, particularly those earning less, to learn how to manage their money better. It is my humble observation that many lower income earners spend too lavishly and unnecessarily. I have a better idea on how we could help the lower income groups to spend less and save more and hurt the telcos – just ask them to talk less over the phones; in most cases it is sheer waste of time and unproductive anyway.

Western NGOs are stepping up pressure on the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to cut ties with its landlord Wallysons Inc, linked to Sarawak Chief Minister Taib Mahmud’s family.

What people says about this?

Anticommunalist
One thing is for sure Taib Mahmud certainly has some very powerful and influential enemies that is constantly tracking all his evil misdeeds.

Lexicon The US must take note of human rights abuses taking place in Sarawak – rape of the Penan, land grabs, violence against those who resist – even if this is halfway across the world. Does the FBI intend to send a message that it supports those leaders who are responsible for these human rights abuses, by contributing to their fortune and renting their overseas assets?

Feelletdownbybn For MACC is difficult to gether evidence on this family. But very swift on TBH.Mind you they work round the clock,in between watching blue film! Sampai bila pun orang tak percaya MACC.Boss MACC kan dap at award and among the top most influential man in the world!Of course the organization yang bagi award to is a profit oriented organization.Meaning money is involved. So what do you expect from MACC. Latest, the AG pula renovate Rumah 2nd wife at Seremban 2,paid by group from Ho Hup,so what can you expect from AG Chambers. Apa nak jadi Dengan 1Malaysial. Best option Kick BN out!

DAP Kinta Valley in Perak is questioning whether electoral system is being manipulated due to a recent surge of postal voters in the Ipoh Timor parliamentary seat, and in particular its Canning state seat.

What do people says about this?

S Vellu They must be planting Armed Forces votes in the Army camps in Ashby Road and fake postal policemen votes in Sg Senam. I am a voter theer and my vote goes to the Opposition, whoever its is

docs Better check, I’m sure in addition to the postal voters, the phantom voters, dead voters, Red and Green IC holders & voters and centenarian voters numbers should have increased in Ipoh.

Disgusted More policemen and army personnel with their families sent to Ipoh Timor? Is BN expecting it to be a war zone? Intending to cheat using postal votes as usual. Why should Army and police personnel and thier families be allowed to vote via postal manner. Their residences are all near polling stations and not stationed in some jungle area far away from voting stations. Besides are family members are they actively engaged in such duties to be postal voters. Postal votes should only be applied to army personnel who are in remote areas on duty or overseas on duty such as UN missions. The rest should go to polling stations and vote like every one else. In that way they are free to vote without some being appointed by their chiefs to mark the ballots for them. That is pure cheating and depriving the individual from making their independent decision as to who they want to vote. This sort of cheating should be put to an end by EC. But then do they dare?

A British lawyer representing the outlawed Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) who was barred from entering Malaysia to see his clients has lambasted the Malaysian government in a critical commentary on influential British daily The Guardian.

What people says about this?

Dr.Irwan Hj Jusoh I think as Malaysians we should question the real motive of the immigration to have deported a human rights lawyer. Waytha Moorthy , you Sir, have shone the ugly spotlight on Malaysia. Congratulation

Dr Suresh Kumar This story has been hogging the limelight for more than a week, even appearing in international media, yet the Malaysian Bar Council and Ambiga, who are usually very vocal are in a deafening silent mode. Even though Imran is a British citizen, but he came all the way to represent his Malaysian clients. The bar council as a responsible professional body should therefore speak up against such, humiliating and deplorable behaviour of the authority against a human rights lawyer, regardless of his nationality. Ambiga herself has gone through such a humiliation, and knows first-hand how it feels like to be denied entry, what more for a person who flew from thousands of kilometres away and to be treated in that manner with blatant disregard for his rights. And to further humiliate him. He was classified as a ‘prohibited immigrant’. This is totally unacceptable by any standard. I wonder why the Bar council, Ambiga, the human rights NGOs, etc are awfully in total silence?

JusticeKini Tourism Malaysia will be changing its slogan soon from “Malaysia Truly Asia” to “Malaysia – Truly Racist”. As long as UMNO practises a policy that promotes the supremacy of a race over others, there will be no future for the next generation. My children are 4th generation Malaysians have less rights than a 1st generation Malaysian-born Indonesian Muslim who became the Selangor Menteri Besar and 1st generation Malaysian-born Indian Muslim became the Prime Minister of Malaysia. That’s why there is now 1 million skilled Malaysians working overseas and 3 million low-skilled migrant labour working in Malaysia. Now even the illegal ones out-numbered the legal migrant labour and they can get blue ICs and vote. Very soon Malaysia will be part of Indonesia (which became a republic). We will be sowing the seeds and I assure u reaping the harvest will be a nightmare. BECAREFUL UMNO- Indonesians have great experience in throwing out their Presidents. haha! The one who laughs last laughs best

Perak Mufti Harussani Zakaria had once advised Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak that it is the government’s “weaknesses” and “corrupt” practices that have divided the Malay community, he revealed today.

What people says about this issue?

Malaysian Born Well this chap likes the sound of his voice and is one of the most crass political opportunists in the country. He enjoys coming out with controversial statements using non-muslims as his favorite boogeymen. For him to openly turn on the prime minister is an indication that he has now collected his fee of 30 pieces of silver and is now doing his masters bidding. Looks like an internal struggle in UMNO. For him to say that he advised prime ministers is a joke, he is a class clown who knows how to manipulate racial and religious sensitivities, he represents the lowest form of political tool and these days spends his time stirring discontent and fear among the lower income group and rural muslims. What a shame that a low life like this is given such prominence and face when vermin like him should be shown the door.

David Dass The problem was and is not Islam. The problem is one Mufti Harrussani Zakariah. This is not the first time that he has tried to stir up trouble between Muslims and non Muslims. He was the one who sent out a text message – saying that thousands of Muslims had been converted into Christianity and that a Catholic Church in Ipoh was baptizing Muslims. That caused a crowd of Muslims to gather around the Church during a service scaring the congregation. Whose interest does it serve to allow someone like this to spew so much garbage without penalty or sanction ? How does Islam or the nation benefit from tension between the races or from polarization or from people emigrating because they cannot take this constant attempt by some to stoke the fires of racial and religious hatred ? There are contrary voices but in the nature of things discordant and raucous voices are the loudest. There is no spiritual law that says people of different faiths cannot live together peacefully and harmoniously.

Wong Yoke Leong I hope the Perak Mufti was wrongly quoted when he said that non muslims are cruel according to the Quran. I have many non muslim friends and I can sincerely say that they are definitely not cruel. Statements like this causes religious tensions. Sigh!

4thForce Many people who commented here didn’t attend the forum and look how they lambasted not only the mufti but also Islam based on what is reported by Malaysiakini. Qur’an gives warning and reminders to all humanity but I don’t recall Qur’an states non-muslims being cruel simply because they are non-Muslims. Reporting on interpretation of Qur’an verses by people who are not knowledgable would result in this gross misunderstanding. I would advise Malaysiakini to be careful in this area and not simply report without clarifying. You could be held responsible for irresponsible journalism.

ANONIMOUS Z How sad it is for Malaysia these days! Why does he keep talking of Malays split? Isn’t it should be Malaysians split? Also he is only interested in Malay Muslims to come together. He does not even want the Mamak-Muslims or other non-Malay Muslims to come together. What a real extreme racist under the pretext of religious supremacy. So, to all our Mamak-Muslims and non-Malay Muslims or non-pure blood Malay Muslims, all of you are considered 2nd class Muslims in Malaysia. It is just like in Middle East, the Gulf region, all non-Arab Muslims including the pure Malay-Muslims are 2nd class Muslims.

Simon Lee 3ed5 And what this Islamic “hero” is now trying to only preach is half of the Malays supports corruption?! And which half are you standing on Mr Mufti? If you are trully a man of Allah who practise & live by the tenets of Islam, you should call for all Muslims to vote for PR, while it may not be perfect, but at least the party is incorrupt & sincere, unlike Umno,a party of corrupt & filthy $$billionaires! As you had confirmed & declared the govt is corrupt, for Allah’s sake, why didn’t you demand the $24 million diamond ring, the $100K handbags & the $200billions of the nation’s wealth that were plundered be returned to the rakyat & the corrupt charged? Where were you, Man of Allah, all these 54 years, when the nation’s bleed & every institution of our nation is corrupt & collapsed, countless killed in custody & the many sins & criminal acts perpetuated against the rakyat & Islam by Umno? A leader who supports a corrupt party & condones corruption & every evil betrays Allah!

wfworker All leaders whatever their belief must look at the mirror FIRST before running down people with different belief; do note the time span that separate the gap between civilizations. If there are civilizations that had lasted longer than your own; surely it provides you an indicator. Being over sensitive about oneself while ‘jabbing’ in the air does not reflect any depth of thinking. Anyway, one can claim anything in this world or the next world; the majority of the population in this world can only smile and judge as such conclusion from such a LEARNERED man! anyway that is your claim!
